Read an article some time ago stating that the Vedder river hatchery was trying to introduce a fall red spring run.  Heard of a few caught in Sept/Oct in the last couple of years at the Vedder, perhaps we will see more fall reds in the system in future.
Remarkable summer red spring returns this year.  Drop by the hatchery to view and appreciate the summer returns.

Fall run red springs being introduced to the Vedder? I haven't heard that yet but who knows. I agree with Doc, you don't see many Red's in sept, the ones you do get are usually old summer fish (Bowron stock). Is there such a thing as a Fall run Red Chinook?

If there is such a thing as fall run red chinook fishery it's a big secret. All the chinooks I've caught from the Vedder have been white.

It's hard to believe a fall run of reds but I've heard this too many times now and seen the odd chrome Oct. reds to 20#.  I'll have to dig deeper into some old literature to find the answer.  Better yet a call to the hatchery should verify this.

Do you get any storage space with your ISP that you can upload your pictures to?  Thats what I do.  

Then, after they are uploaded, click on the 4th button on the second row of "Add YABBC tags:" and put the url address of your uploaded pics in between the [img] brackets.

Nice Jack Doc! What's the date on that one? It doesn't look like a summer red that you get in July.......that's a chromer all right.

I never thought much of them introducing Harrison whites to the Vedder for as far as I know, they were never native to the Vedder in the first place.

I personally hate em when they get in the river and crowd out the coho.

I know that for the last three years a small run of red springs comes thru between the first and second week of October. Usually I don't keep Vedder springs but each year at that time I'm into nice bright fish and we were quite surprised they were reds. Now I keep an open space on my licence for that one last red. Those are picked up in the canal on a single orange jensen egg and have ranged from 12 - 28lbs.

Nice little bonus no doubt. I killed one myself a few years back, a jack in late sept. I thought it was more of an anomoly than a run of fish. The Jack had orangey-marble meat & was definitely not a White.

Yeah, I caught one of them last year.  It's about 9lbs.  I thought that, for some reason, the summer red must have somehow interbred with the fall whites.

What exactly is the story on this?

last year some of the member brought this topic up already,of coarse there are always  has some non beleiver .but they are here in the fall.(small run).cause every year i did caught 1 or 2...beleive or not -remember you have to put a lot of time in the river

3 or 4 years ago, I got a red spring about 15 lbs under the highway bridge in February on a colorado spoon.
I was expecting a steelhead (first on a spoon) until I got it close to shore.  Maybe this fish was headed to the upper reaches of the Fraser and got lost? I guest that in the grand scheme of things going 4 km out of your way for a bit isnt a big problem.  

Ive got a few jack springs in late Sept, all marbled and a guy I fish with got one about 8 lbs, marbled as well.   I dont think Ive ever got a pure red beyond the one in the canal.
