Vedder September 22nd
« on: September 22, 2004, 04:54:39 PM »

Fished today with LukeYVR in the lower river from first light until 2pm. Not a bad day indeed. Lots of spring jacks around. Hooked 5 spring jacks in total and kept three. Landed and kept one coho jack as well.

All fish were caught on last year's pink roe.

Water clarity and level were excellent. A few fish moving up, not as much as yesterday.

Itosh will probably file in his report as he is at the same spot trying his luck right now after his morning mushroom picking. :)

Good luck all who are fishing this weekend, my fishing is done until next week as we'll now be very busy with the final preparation of this weekend's event. Look forward to see many of you at the cleanup. :)

a chinook jack is just a really small chinook, about 5 pounds I would say. same with coho.

Well nooman... If you look really closely.... You'll notice that fish was wearing a small name tag and it says.... jack. :)

Basically, any chinook under 62cm is considered as a jack.

Fished today with this guy in the lower river from first light until 2pm.  Not a bad day for him indeed!    Lots of spring jacks around, but none for me..  My friend stole 5 spring jacks from me in total and kept three.  ;D
He gave me one spring to take home, so I decided not to puncture his tires after all.  :D

My mama grilled it with a little bit of salt and my my my!,  it had a lots of oil and tasted sooo good!   Actually it tasted better than shinooks I'd caught from sailing boat off English Bay couple weeks ago.   River caught one actually tasted much better than ocean caught ones.  What gives  ???
My cat also went crazy and ate so much.  I've never seen her eat so much at one sitting.

I used  last year's pink roe which had turned gooey and  brown from freezer burn.   ;D     I should have used my friend's roe instead..

It was amazing to see such big fishes swimming and caught so close to the shore and such shallow water...

Water clarity and level were excellent. A few fish moving up.
It was an excellent day none the less.  :)

Thanks for an excellent report Rod and those are Primo's you caught. Good going. I have'nt been around for a while and once I moved (Sept 1st) my Shaw hook-up was all wakky until we got a guy to come in again and rework things. Seems to be working now, (fingers crossed) so you all can expect me to make my usual contribution to this fine club once again. It's good to be home and back in the Zone. ;D

Dinner's now if you are being Pepsi Trev. ;) Got a couple of fillets grilling away as I type.

Luke, didn't I tell you to stay right next to me? Those jacks could have been on your line too. ;D
