Lower Fraser October 10th
« on: October 10, 2004, 10:49:11 PM »

Slow, few fish jumping, mostly chums as the tide was coming up.

TtotheE hooked one fish, but a biggie! Easily 12lb chrome hatchery coho, which unfortunately went under a snag and came out the other way. Eventually the fish broke off.... :-\

Fished the South Arm of the lower Fraser for about 3 hrs until high tide. Gman and Ggirl joined in for the last 1.5 hrs.

I had a couple of nibbles but no real solid strikes. We saw quite a few jumpers near high tide but they appeared to be mostly chum as well. Viz was about 1 foot.

I also wasted a good 30 mins with a little bullhead which decided to swallow my 1/0 gammy and roe.  I thought I was getting some nibbles,  as the fish decided to just sit there.  Technically, 1 landed today  ;D LOL

Generally its bar fishing with roe, thou you can spin when the visibility is ok. Lots of different locations to choose from. Brownsville in Surrey, Derby Reach in Langley are some of the well known locations, but you can try just about anywhere.

I was using a tear drop shaped lure that was painted like a canadian flag.  I put some prism tape on it.  Lost it to a rock.  If someone catches that fish,  you know the lure works  ;D  I like casting towards risers,  and have had luck that way.  Yesterday I wasn't paying attention.  That seems to work for me too.

Here's a picture of TtotheE trying hard to get his line out of the snag while the coho slowly got away....
