Trout lake April 29

 Decided to try for some carp tonight, arrived at the lake at about 7:00pm, no one else fishing, had the whole lake to myself. Just after I had casted out my line I was trying to set up my chair and turned my head to see my rod moving, after a quick hookset I landed my first carp, close to six inches! little later I land another carp of about the same size. Then like clockwork as soon as it starts getting dark the catfish start biting, caught maybe six catfish all about 5 inches and decided to call it a night. On a side note it sure would be nice if the hatchery would of put some trout in trout lake this year, seems to be the only lake around that didnt get stocked, yet they put a whole bunch of fish in the pond called green timbers. :-\

Perhaps there's a bunch of Green Timbers in this lake, and they simply got the stocking instructions wrong  ;D ;)

Nice carp lucky, i've fished for carp and pumpkinseeds at trout lake (vancouver); by the way that type powerbait is deadly for carp, shhhhh ;D ;D ;D

i called the trout lake community center two days ago, they said its unallowed to fish there. >:(

yea....but there is a sign near the lake stating it is stocked with rainbows and cutts and that C&R is recommended.

It is ok to fish there, it is sometimes stocked.  Check your regs.

Phone the conservation office for a definite answer. The phone list is on this page. Try the Surrey office. Um... Why isn't there a Vancouver office?

About 15 years ago, it was quite common to catch Rainbows in the 5 lb range at Trout Lake.

I wouldn't do any fishing at Trout Lake right now because the lake is damn right gross. It's full of dog poop and the water quality is so bad that hardy species such as carp are dying. You see, in the 80's and early 90's, it was a very popular lake for swimming and wading for kids, teens, and adults. Then, new people who own dogs moved into the neighbourhood and they found out that it's really great place to let their dogs to swim and poop in the lake.  It was an alright lake back then, now it's just a big toilet bowl for dogs. And most of the time the dogs spook the daylights of the fish from their swimming and barking. Ever wonder why Trout Lake's water is usually always black?  Hmmmm... Toilet Lake is more like it.
