Ok congradulations Steelieman on your very nice day on the vedder river. Its nice too see that some springs are showing up in the system. Now I would like to ask you if you can tell the difference between a spring salmon and a sockeye salmon along with everyone else congradulating you here. The fish at the top of the your photo is a SOCKEYE SALMON NOT A SPRING SALMON! There are some extreme differences between these two species. Firstly, Chilliwack/ Vedder Sockeye are CLOSED FOR RETENTION and are a protected species. This type of ignorance is completely unexceptable, you should not be fishing if you cant tell the difference between the spieces of salmon your catching. READ THE REGS!!! IN THE MIDDLE (half way) IS A PAGE FULL OF PHOTOS OF ALL TYPES OF FISH THAT ARE FOUND IN B.C. along with descriptions and characteristics of each. There is no excuse for this. There are already concerns with the number of sockeye returning to Chilliwack Lake and the few that are returning are precious. Its not a comforting sight to see a dead one mistaken for a spring. I really recomend that you pick up a copy of the regs and scan through the entire book before your next outing.
P.S everyone that replied to this with congratulations should give your head a shake and take a look at a Fish species chart as well.
BRUTAL!
