Hey notimpressed,

Look closer at the spots on the back and tail of the smaller fish. Look at the black mouth. Look at the anal fin. Look at the spots on the dorsal fin. Granted the tail looks forked but look closer, it's actually buckled up in the middle forcing it into a V. Notimpressed - your eyes have deceived you.

I agree that it could look like a sockeye, however, I would need a second angle to be able to say for sure. So before anyone jumps on anyone else lets trust steeliemans judgement as he was the one who got the best look at them. Unless of course you know something that I don't.

Wow- so much controversial judgement. Been fishing the Vedder for 15 years so I know the difference between Springs, Sockeye, Steelhead, Cohos, Pinks.

Not that I cannot tell, but the wonderful frangrance of a Chinook can be a good indicator too!

They were a couple of veteran fisherman down there where we caught the fish. They came over to look and not mention anything about being a sockeye. I am sure I would have heard a earful if that was a sockeye.

Not Impressed, you need to put in some more years of fishing till you get to the point where you can ID a fish BEFORE you make a mistake as big as you have. I say this because there is no question that that is a spring, its not even debatable in my opinion. Don't worry Steelieman, ya did good.

Steelieman looks like a couple guys are out to get ya. ::)

Chump, you should read the posts before replying.  Your questions have already been answered.  It is a spring and his cameras date was not reset.

Know what? I will no longer post anymore fishing report... its not worth the aggravation.

I was only trying to give the fishing folks an idea what is or not happening at the Vedder.

Chump, you're way off.  That fish has spots- sockeye don't. That fish has black gums-sockeye don't. its got spots on the tail( look close)- sockeye don't. And most telling, it has the blunt nose head of a red spring.   End of story.     Steelieman, keep posting.
