Decided to take the day off with my dad and hit the river.  Was disappointed by the weather...over cast and quite cool in the morning.   The river looked busy as we drove along but we were pleased to find quite a bit of space in the run we hit first. 

Ended up hooking 4 reds and bonking 2  8-9 lb bucks.  My dad's fish was a little colored and mine was pretty clean.  Saw more fish today than I have all season thus far so I think the run has finally arrived. 

Water was gin clear but still at a very nice level.

Sorry to cloud the July 22 Vedder report with a Salt Report, but the mention of the T10 was something I thought I should note on.

As for the T10 report, this morning my friend was out in his Calglass between Pt. Atkinson and Passage Island, and he hooked a HOG, he estimates it was in the Mid 30's, and it looked like a White--he thinks it was a Howe Sound fish.. He too was at the T10, it was too rough, and the current was HIDEOUS, so he made the run up to Pt. Atkinson. I have fished with his before and he calls his fish accurately, and when he says the fish was over 30, it was over 30, and I know that to be true.

By the way, if the fish are in the Vedder now, the time to have been fishing the Chuck was a few days ago. Sorry bud.

Thanks for the post fishinmagish. I couldn't get out today anyway, but maybe tomorrow. I'm thinking T14 not T10. Maybe there are still lots of those big springs out in the chuck on their way up. A friend from work got a 20 pounder early this week in the Fraze around Laidlaw, and a 28 pounder on Thursday, same place. I've forgotten if they were red or white.

Make sure your rig is right for that area. Can be dangerous and unsafe.

By the way, that T14 report and T10 report always kinda cracks me up as despite the proximity to Vancouver, not a lot of guide boats fish that area so what reports there are are coming from weekend warriors, and in the chuck, you have to take those kind of reports with a "grain of salt". I have been down there, and I am not calling those reports "lies" but the difference between seeing a fish "dead" and hearing a "report" can be quite the difference. For example, there was a report earlier this spring about a 60lber, yet the fish was 38.5 dressed which works out to be 44 lbs about, and that was hauled in off Pt. Grey. Frame of reference also make a big difference too, as someone listening to the guide channel in the salt may get the wrong impression as oftentimes they talk about "shakers" which make the differnce on a slow trip between a "ticked off" and a satisfied guest.

I would LOVE to meet the guys that give all the reports about the T10 and T14 and fish the area with some kind of regularity, as indeed, they don't post on FWR, yet information seems to make its way around to several local reports.

Getting back to the Vedder Report, one of my customers today saw the crest on one of my Fleece Uniforms and said he fished the Vedder yesterday and moved around to 4 spots or so and didn't get a bite, but did see plenty of anglers out there. He reported good water conditions.
