As I was checked on Grassy Bar today I asked the Fisheries Officer when he expected it to open. He replied by saying most likely in 2 weeks. He said roughly August 10th due to the numbers of sockeye already.

Any date that you've been given is simply a guess at this point.

It's all speculation at the moment whether DFO will open the fishery and if so, when

Please follow the new releases by the Fraser River Panel of the Pacific Salmon Commission. The early Stuart sockeye return number has been much lower than originally predicted, they are also late. Test fisheries have indicated that summer runs may also possibly be smaller and late. Opening is undetermined at this point, anything you heard is not concrete unless you read it on fisheries notices of DFO Pacific. We'll also have the latest updates released by DFO and Fraser River Panel posted here and the fishy news section of the website.

In the meantime, Fraser River conditions are excellent for barfishing right now for chinook salmon. Last week's test and recreational fisheries were very productive. Get out and enjoy the fishing while you can.
