Mamquam August 12
« on: August 12, 2005, 12:35:47 PM »

Fly Fished from 07:00 to 11:00.  Only 7 fish hooked and gently released.

CO stops by to look at gear and licenses.  Good to see them out there.  He tells us that a closure is coming Sunday at midnight.  The Squamish from the mouth of the Cheakamus down, the Cheak, the Mamquam and Howe Sound.  Seems the only major pink run that is surviving is the Mamquam and the 10% mortality from C&R is an issue.

Yes the closure is coming Monday, including other waters and in Howe sound as well.

Watch for the official notice.

DFO is responsible for saltwaters and the fraser. COs are everywhere else, except the vedder you will occasionally see DFO filling in becasue there are so many people and not enough COs

Fishguts:
DFO is responsible for salmon and their habitat, be it in fresh or saltwater. CO's look after freshwater fish and habitat also. Both will help out with the others responsibility as there work schedule allows.

I was there yesterday(Saturday) and had a pretty good day on both the fly and float rods. Also met up with Biffchan out there. Gotta keep this report quick, landed 15-20 and lost just as many. ;D
Here's some pics.

This bad boy took me well into the backing.

This fish of Biffchans had some serios bites from a seal.

The one's with most success were "no name" personal flies.Consisting of neon green and pink colours. Also some were taken on black and pink bunny leeches with a pair of dunbell eyes.
