What is a "beek"?
« on: August 19, 2005, 06:35:53 PM »

I noticed on another local fishing forum that someone is trolling for flames, calling this site "fishing with retards" and saying that people here are "beeks". He said people here are worse than native poachers.

I am confused.. wtf does beek mean? That's pretty bad thing to say, equating the anglers here with poachers.

I thought most people here were against nonethical fishing methods like flossing.. am I wrong?

Who ever said that is beak who needs to be put in his place one way or another. What kinda moron goes on a site just to let people know how bad he thinks of them and refering to people being just as bad as FN fihers wow i would like to see this saint. Beak means someone who is new to fishing.

Man that is shitty to say. Although I do agree that the method of fishing this person is against hardly seems like "sport" to me at all, it's pretty stupid to go against all new anglers like that, and especially grouping all of them who visit a particular site as 'worse than native poachers' and 'retards'

. Beak means someone who is new to fishing.

Beak has nothing to do with being new. Beak is an attitude. Beaks are the guys who go around with polarized glasses snagging coho. Beaks are the guys who use barbed hooks INSPITE of knowing better. Beaks are the guys who steal your spots while you go to the washroom even though they know they were fishing there first.

Wasn't beek or beak (however you wanna to spell it) once meant as a positive thing to say about a person?

I find the word is usually used on people new to fishing. I think it is very patronizing and, obviously, only people who are very insecure about themselves would have the need to patronize others.

Such a weird word though, always make me think about birds...

the person calling everyone in here a beek has nothing better to do he can't pick on guys on the river as I'm sure he'll be put into his place,so he has to stir up #!#! in here.just remember we all had to start out as a beek at one point but weather you choose to have good or bad ethics is where it all lies
