Fraser River Sept 2nd
« on: September 02, 2005, 09:42:32 PM »

Fished at pegs today, I got my fish after putting in the time, lots of pinks being hooked and not to many Sockeye. As noted by other people yes the crowds were terrible, but you come to except that!
On the way in I noticed the right hand portion of the bar was closed off with cones, and upon coming out there was a bright light near the enterance and lots of people in costumes and tons of vehicles coming down with old equipment on it.
On a positive note, there was a actual fisheries officer checking people's licenses and catch on the way out. What REALLY pissed me off though was that he said he ticket book 'was full' tonight from people keep more Sockeye than there allowed. He said people were giving him the excuse that it's only open for a week so they got to keep lots. He went on to say this is why there getting reluctant to open fisheries and next year it will probably mean less oportunites if this keeps up. I wish they'd have a idiot detector or something to scan people when they drive in there before they go fishing, would make it better for all of us!

Well, sockeye season does bring out all the freaks...

Hey! You're a freak too! ;D

Yep, I made that prediction while pink fishing when someone phoned about the sockeye opening a couple of days ago. Having such a short opening, many will double, triple dip and disregard the regulations. Pathetic.

I'm not really sure what the costume thing was all about, sorta looked like a 'stargate' sort of costume. The DFO guy didn't know either. Was something for some sort of movie though i'm pretty sure.

Sleep now...more sox tomorrow.

Well, Peg was very good again.
2 sox  ;D
2 Pink  :)
0 foul hook  :)
1 C & R (Long line release due to tangles.)

It was a good day. I fished for about 2 hours.  Not as efficient as yesterday.  The sox are smaller than yesterday too. :'(  The last fish caught was a sox.  Either way --if its pink that I catch then I'll keep what I I catch.  My objective is 2 sox.  If I catch all Pink then I would have limit out on pinks.  I don't believe in punishing the fishes to get what I want. ;)  Always thankful for what the lord gives me.

well all i can say is dfo should be taking all those idiots gear as well when possesing more than their limit of sockeye. and a big friggin fine on top of it all. the gear should be put up for auction and the money go to the sda or salmon conservation ;D ;D ;D. i got my 2 the other day and im happy. i will go 1 more time and then wait till the whites are in as well as the coho :D

I agree.  Take the gear because they could simply return a few hours later and take a couple more...  Auctioning off the gear is also an excellent idea.
