I'm looking for a light-med action rod in the 10' range i have a small bait caster I'd like to put on it for pinks/coho any suggestion on what kind of rod i should get

A couple years ago I switched to the Trophy brand and I have never looked back. A great rod without paying a fortune for.

Another vote for Trophy, increadible value for their performance. If you're only going to be using it for coho and pinks, have a look at this model number: TG6105LC. It retails for ~$100, is 10.5 ft long, and is rated for 8-17lb test. I fished 12 lb test on it and it works beautifully, lots of fun for drifting coho in the chehalis.

With some practice, you could take a chum or maybe a smaller spring on it, but be prepared for a longer fight, although it could be a bit of fun.

The Convergence is also a nice rod, but I'd still go with the Trophy.

If you're looking to maybe spend a bit more, I recently picked up a Frontier rod (made by G Loomis Canada). Looks like a very nice rod, this is the model number I bought: FX3 STR 1263 BC. Rated for 12-20 lb test, so you could take a chum on it, and springs. Has a nice action to it, but retails for ~$280.

Any suggestions of where one could find an abundance of these rods.  I too am also interested as wouldn't mind a back-up rod that is quality.  Many thanks.

Chum's and light springs? Do you mean Spring Jacks and Chums? Personally I wouldnt use a spinning rod for chum or springs but I do suggest a drift rod.

Interesting, in the states and other parts of the world, people use lots of spinning tackle for big fish. Guess it's not a popular practice here.

at berry's we have one of the largest and diverse selections of rods and all of the brands mentioned above. we can also do much better than the price mentioned above on the frontier G.Loomis rods as well.

i think i'll gonna try the trophy rod as i've heard nothing but good things about them thanks to all for your input and tight lines

Fenwick HMX 10'6 medium action 10- 20 lbs test i use it with my pin but every one who has one for levels love them. but the set u back about 180$ but well worth the money i have a trophy level wind rod for the frazer and they are great too

Anything but a convergence. Trophy XL's or Berkley's are better.
