Hit the vedder early morning lower river not much happing at first on the float so i dicided to switch to a jig i baught at freds. Second or third cast fish on and so on till i lost both of my jigs to freaking snags!!!! I changed up to a float but nothing much going on so i got more jigs the action was light now cuz it was late morning but the jig still did its job. At the end of the day i landed 4 chrome doe`s that i boinked for the roe. The intresting part was how well the jig worked in the morning even on a fast retrive but later on the fish would only bite on a very slow retrive and short jerking motion. The water is definetly better now cuz of the rain just a bit more and fishing should pick up on the whole river. Gona cure some roe now for coho in the canal next saturday so good luck to ya all.

Gee Wiz floater, I have had a few dry spells with the girls too but I never resorted to "boinking" samlon

No just small casting rod that i used to use for trout when i was like 12 lol and 10 pound main with jig on the end.

Coho! i freaking wish lol, no humpies should of mentioned that my bad. I hear good things about coho in the very early morning but that might just be the fanatics who get a flashy pink on see all the rolls lose it and then go tell their friends they had a coho on.

is coho open in vedder?

You are allowed to retain four hatchery coho in the Vedder River.

A hatchery coho can be identified by the missing adipose fin (the tiny fin just behind the dorsal fin). Please also be aware that some sockeye salmon are also missing an adipose fin, so you would need to know the difference between a coho and a sockeye salmon. Anglers are not allowed to retain sockeye salmon on the Vedder River.

• You need a freshwater fishing licence when fishing the Chilliwack River.
• You need to purchase a salmon conservation stamp if you intend to keep your salmon.
• Daily quota for pink salmon is four fish in Chilliwack River.
• Daily quota for hatchery coho salmon is four fish in Chilliwack River. Hatchery coho salmon have no adipose fin.
• Daily quota for chum salmon is one fish in Chilliwack River.
• Daily quota for chinook salmon is four fish in Chilliwack River, but only one maybe over 62cm.
• You may only keep four salmon (mixed species) in total per day.
• Only a single barbless hook is allowed.
• You must release any sockeye and wild coho carefully.
• Pink salmon have large oval spots on their back and tail. Sockeye salmon do not have spots. Chinook salmon have tiny black spots on its back and tail. Coho salmon have tiny black spots on its back and upper tail, and white gum.
• Please note that some sockeye salmon in the Chilliwack River also do not have an adipose fin.

• Make sure you have a good fillet knife to clean your catch and a cooler with ice to keep your it fresh.
