thanks for the link. just wondering, would the puff balls make the bait, float above the weight?

from my experience, the puffballs are very very light, so they don't add much floatation to your roe presentation uless you use single eggs. the puffballs are similar in density to a small piece of a popped kernel of popcorn

I guess it's for your bait (roe) to float higher than the botton of you use not too short of a float length

If you're coming to the river cleanup tomorrow, my roe will be in the cooler, my rod will be in my car, feel free to ask to see how I do the setup.

Gona give the roe one more try just wana make sure this cure will do the job. Im gona put salt borax and the pro cure colour stuff and let dry for 12 hours. This is all going right on the roe no water or anything.

Go with the straight procure. Apply the borax after drying and freeze.

How many casts does the roe last for you guys for me after 4 cast or so it would like melt away or somethign just the skein would be left and i used a bait loop it was very frustrating even the sacks i tied the roe inside would melt or something and they wouldent be tight anymore.

You can cure your eggs to last a long time in the water but that is not what you're after. Your roe should be soft and pliable enough to last a number of casts and at the same time leave a trail of scent.

yes but 4 cast and the roe dissapears is that how its ment to be cuz its pretty frustrating it can take up to 20 cast for a fish sometimes.

Should last more than 4 casts. Think you're doing something wrong.

remember to butterfly the skeins open, sprinkle some procure over the roe and let sit for 45 min.  take roe out and drain over screen or paper towels changing them when wet.  Do this for a a few hours. Now coat the roe in borax and dry for a few more hours.  Now store roe in more borax till you go fishing in ziplock bags, mason jars or whatever. I don't dry my roe for too long as i find they dry out over time when in the freezer.

As many others have said use roe bags as I have found they work just as well for coho and are a lot cleaner to work with.
