Vedder Oct 5th
« on: October 05, 2005, 10:54:52 PM »

Fished the Vedder today, lower then upper, quite a few guys packed into all the meathole slots in the lower, lots of fishermen dredging for springs with no floats ! >:(  Wish they would leave their Fraser sockeye snagging rigs at home, I think we all should be tired of bottom bouncing by now? Avoided the crowds and kept walking, fished the edges and pocket water for some coho, good success with pro-cured pink salmon roe. The hatchery fish in the picture inhaled the jam, as did 3 others . No need for the big hooks and heavy leaders, fished all day with 18" of 8lb and using #1 hooks, just don't horse them in and you won't have a problem. Get out there and enjoy it, and don't be afraid to get off your rock and go for a wander to find some new water! ;)

the problem with surveying new runs is never having enough hours in a day to go as far as i want to go. :(

How true, on top of that when you just started river fishing, you'll also be trying places that seasoned fisherman would not try because they know there's no fish, and in turn wasting more time. :P

nice fish , and its true , there is miles of unfished water to find . a little walk and you can have a nice stretch of river to your self , I don't understand why everyone likes to fish shoulder to shoulder ?

I always figured that the springs would have stacked up there and pushed the coho out. Interesting.......

Awesome job gofish!!!!!  That is probably the nicest one I've seen so far this year!!!  Bigger that the ones that I've got anyways ;) ;).  But with the rain, has anyone seen the water condition???  Looks good in the pic behind you.   I just hope that we don't get much more, showers are OK, but I REALLY want to go out this weekend!!!!!!!
