I caught a 25lbs spring on 8 lbs leader today no prob, its all in how you play the fish.

Well I hooked two big springs today, one spit the hook the other one I landed in medium fast water, 40lb fish, 8lb leader, it can be done.  I don't let fish break my line.  That in my opinion is the worst and most damaging way to lose a fish!!!!! Just set your drag medium loose and use your thumb!!!!!
