Local River Oct. 19
« on: October 19, 2005, 02:39:49 PM »

Took my nephew to one of the local rivers to try our luck this morning. Found a very nice run that we had to ourselves. Fishing was not the greatest but he managed to released a chum. River is rapidly rising. The best part of our day was that we were fishing in a Make Belief free zone.  None of those obnoxious fans ! ;D

Ah..is that a jab at the Maple Leaf Man? Chris Gadsen! Are you going to sit there and let this guy insult your hockey team?

There record does all the talking and by the way what team does FA support? I know it is not the Canucks. I think it is Philly that the Leafs were rolling, rolling, rolling right along ;D ;D ;D and over a few games ago.

This should be on sports chat and FA should have known better as he will be sent to the penalty box on this by the Mod's ;D ;D

Well if you really want my opinion......... I personally think that Cloutier has been playing fairly good this season. I can think of more than one game (can you say Edmonton) where Cloutier was the only reason that the score was even close. Part of the problem is that he has been getting, for lack of a better word, crappy defence. McCarthy and Baumgartner are no Sopel and Malik. As well, although I feel he is improving, Allen is still not yet a top 4 NHL defenceman. Not only that but they now are seriously lacking in the center postion. Ryan Kestler is young and still needs to learn more defensive resposibuility. I am still haunted by his give away during the 5 on 3 vs. Edmonton. Trever Linden, as much I love the guy hasn't played center for years and is still dusting the cob webs. Cloutier's only other loss came at the hands of Minnesota and the entire team came out flat on that one. As much as I am guilty of this right now, why don't we wait until a few more than 7 games have gone past before we start ranting about what teams need to do.

Im also talking about last year when cloutier was shaky. Hes not consistant at times although he is lacking a soild defence. The thing that hurts cloutier is his rebounds he never controls them and that often leads to an easy goal. Personally i think rolston is under rated as a backup not sure when his contracts up but he would be soild. If cloutier doesnt step up this year i think hes out.

Clouts signed a two year deal so it would have to be through a trade. As far as a replacement is concerned I feel that Mark Dennis is very underated as he is playing in front of a minor league defence. Not only that but he's proven himself to be durable (66,77) starts in last two seasons. And best of all, he's played under crow (albiet not for very long) so we know we won't have to deal with another Hedberg situation.

if Cloutier could learn how to focus more and not get out of position so much he could be a solid goalie......
he loses concentration often, you will see him out of position and scrambling, simple because he loses sight of the puck....
the reason Auld looks so solid in net is because of his awesome concentration and positional play...I honestly believe that if the Canucks have any hope of going anywhere in the Playoffs, they need to play Auld or bring in a veteran goalie, Cloutier at this point in his career is not a # 1 NHL goaltender....maybe in a few years when he learns how to concentrate more..... but not at this time.....
even when he put together those thirty win seasons he had one of the worst goals against averages in the league....the only reason he got thirty wins is because the offence was so potent.....in other words even on nights when Cloutier would let in four goals his team would score five....not many of those games were won because of stellar goaltending......
but thats just my opinion....Oh yeah and everyone else I have talked to aswell
