Ill tell you after the seasson what my favorite fly to wet was.

ghost shrimp , shrimp/salmon feast scent soaked egg sacks and my absolute #1 would be a 50/50 , genuine gold/silver #4 custom rigged french blade... absolutely deadly under a float.

Keep telling everybody how great it is and the next thing you know!  Bouncing Betties and long leaders!!!  Talk about the cold, the rain, snow and the thousand casts to get one fish! Discourage people!!!!  I love the fact that you can almost find lots of open water but it has gotten more crowded over the last couple of years!  Remember it is cold, windy and too hard to catch those devils!

Ahhhhh.... My FAVORITE winter pursuit 

I've found that steelhead are amongst the most aggressive of our anadromous fish. And although at one time I did use roe and bugs, I have learned that the mess and fussiness is not really neccessary for good success.

aYup! Gotta LOVE those bloody cold mornings, waist deep in an icey flow, when that RUSH of the hit warms you right through to the bones

Damn IronNoggin!!!!!!  I thought that I caught some big steelies!!!!!   Nice pics man!!!!!!  For my favorite bait, I would have to say, coho roe in a small spawn sack.  Also colorados, and they 50/50 french blades that Allwaysfishin was taking about!!!!!  Btw, Thank you again for those blades Alwaysfishin, I still have about 8 of them left!!!!!  I just need some bead chains now!!!!!

Dosent anyone fly fish for steelhead? fly fishing seems to be the logical way to go for fly fishing. Since your not getting much action you can atl least have fun casting or getting better at casting.

You can try floater, some guys get steelies flyfishing, but I think that you should be an accomplished flyfisherman if you hope to have any amount of success at it.  I am not accomplished at it, so I gear fish!!!!!  But, all the more power to you when you hook your beast!!!!!   So good luck, I hope that you do get your prize!!!!
