got there at around 10am, light rain and a little windy too. fished near the mouth of squamish/mamquam, man the current was a lot faster than that at the Stave (where i fished the past few weeks)! don't have experience fishing that kind of water too. lots of people there today and all i heard from a group of locals was that they were gonna get something going against CN rail. not much jumpers and only two guys landed chromer cohos. most of the chums i saw landed were still silvery bright too, no boots like those at the stave. first cast i snagged into a huge buck on the dorsal fin and it sprinted all the way downstream and snapped my 20lbs line like a toothpick. thanks god there were no fishermen downstream from me.... that's it for the whole day. what a pity...
by the way, i was fishing with pink and white wools(the local preference) on a float.
on a side note, i really gotta admire the scenerio up there, seeing the mountains covered by a thin layer of fog and some big birds(eagles?) were drifting around in the sky...
one more thing, the tackle shop at squamish, the one near the rail road on mamquam river, was expensive. they r retailing fishing products at 15% more expensive than the tackle shops in vancouver.
tough river for me.
