Vedder Dec 15
« on: December 15, 2005, 08:03:02 PM »

Started out this morning in the Train Bridge area - nothing.  Wind was blowing pretty good making it a bit chilly - I think I must have looked like the Pilsbury Dough Boy with all the layers.  I had the run above the Train Bridge all to myself for about an hour.
Went to the upper river around lunch and all I caught was a tomatoe coho.  Had to keep cleaning the ice out of the guides.  Both places I fished I had all to myself...not many fishers out there yet.

River is low and crystal clear.

any suggestions on ways to keep the guides free of ice?

Fished Browne Road area, End of the Road and even took a peak ;) at the Boundary hole, had never been up there before. Only saw what looked to be one guy playing a fish in the lower river. This was the only action I saw all day. Cold but beautiful day to be out.

Also fished the Vedder today after work. Never saw another person and never hooked any fish. I was fishing mid-river.

birdman, was too far away to identify. Will have to remain a mystery. Spoke with a guy at Fred's and he said there was one Steelhead weighed in this morning.

Apply lamb oil to the guides. It'll keep it free of ice.

i heard that if you rub onion on to your guides they won't freeze up. haven't tried it yet but let me know if it works.

Lambs Navy Rum will keep the ice off ;)

I'll second the Jensen anise oil, it really does work and might mix well with the rum?????
