any other recommendations? how bout rod length? my previous ul rod was 7 feet, a little long to fish from shore from ..... any opinions? 5'5? 6'0 or 6'5?
--I have all those lengths in different rods...issue with longer rod if you stick with 1 piece it gets to be a problem for transport or pack in.
--So depends on when and how you are going to use it.. I have the longer rods 1 piece for use on my boat when fish are getting stingy or when targeting smaller fish.. or using ultra lite lures and line.
-- I have some 2 lb braid and 1/48 th oz jigs with mini tubes. Also allows for casting of some smaller lures which would normally be used for trolling or ultralite specific spoons. Compleat Angler has some new "torpedo" lures on wire.. this give enough weight to cast with UL without adding split shot.
--Many traditionally trolled spinner type lures-- wedding ring etc can be cast without additional weight especially those assembled on wire rather than line... for these spinning types I use micro swivels commonly used by Pin or Chironomid fishers or for larger swivel with no weight aquateko invisiswivels.
--Except for the Amundson pan fish the other rods are expensive.
--The evolution rods can handle larger fish.. the limiting factor is the reel. Very few smaller reels are capable of handling larger fish and I don't often see much of a selection of smaller reels except cheap versions.
