Alta Lake, June 16th 2013
« on: June 16, 2013, 06:12:46 PM »

Have not posted any reports in a long time so here I go!

I got my first boat about 2 months ago  and ever since then I have had a list of lake I have wanted to fish. Well today was fathers day and the family wanted to got to whistler so lets go to Alta lake, great idea! So now to the report got to the lake around 9:30  and had the boat in the water for no more then 5 minutes and my brother got his first trout on the fly rod. Great we then move over to the north end and fished the dead fall and did great I got 3 on a hillbilly indicator setup and my brother got two more on a Tom thumb.

The flies we used were Tom thumbs, green woolybuggers , and a red ribed chrondomid.

Sorry no pics the fish did not feel like hanging around.

Fished Alta June 15 and 16. Saturday 10-12:30 we boated a 12" bow and 19" cutt. Missed several hits - we were usually trolling, and my five year old is pretty green! Flying ant hatch in afternoon in village, wondered about the lake while at kid park. Sunday 7-9:30 am boated one 12" bow, a few hits, lost a larger bow or bull (?) and lost a huge cutt. The cutt smashed muddler on surface, jumped twice, gone. Ants came again after we left the lake. Single barbless can be a challenge! Egg-sucking leaches and muddlers mainly.
