Vedder January 29th
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:03:39 PM »

Its been awhile since I last fished. Almost a month to be exact. Its either too much snow or too much water.

Woke up at 6:00 a.m and was on the road to the Vedder by 6:30a.m with my buddy.

Got to the parking lot at around 7:30a.m and noticed quite a few cars around. Decided to check out the river before heading out. Water looks a bit fast but very fishable. We both decided to use the sweeping method and short floating to catch one of these elusive beauties. As we walked down stream, we heard one wild one was hooked earlier on. As we got to the end of the long run, we talked to a few people. Nothing was reported other than the wild fish caught earlier.

I decided to walk the dike and try a different spot while my buddy decided to stay back.

The flow was perfect when I got to the spot and decided to try it. Couple of casts and I noticed that my float kept slower down for some reason. I was short floating and I knew I was not touching bottom. I decided to strike the next time it happened. Guest what? Sure enought the next cast it happened again. This time I felt a strong tug at the end of the line. My float was bouncing up and down and before I knew it, it was gone.!!!!!!

A few minutes later I was into another fish. I fought it for about 10 minutes and was about to land this hatchery beauty of about 12lbs when the line broke. It was tough to land the fish as I was fishing along side a ledge with trees and twigs behind me.

If only my buddy was with me to assist me.

0 for 4 for me now.

We will try again next week. Hopefully, it doesn't rain heavy to create another flood!!!!
The same scenario happened twice before I decided to call it quits as I promised my wife I will be hoe by 2:00pm.

Thats my report for the day.

Wow, good report and congratulation for a productive day. Well, anything time there is a hook up, it is considered quite an achievement these days.   :D

So, Chris, looks like you are not the leader in the landing ratio category after all.  Pressure is off.  ;D
