Firming up roe AFTER cured?

Seems I did not leave roe in the brine long enough to my liking, the roe is on the "soft" side and I wanted something more rubbery/firm. It was in the brine for about 2 hrs...similar to this method  http://www.angelfire.com/wa/nwfishing/curingeggs.html  (Mix 1 cup each of sugar, borax, and salt into 1 quart of water. )

Currently it's air drying (about  9 hrs so far).

Are there any "tricks" to firm it up some? Re-cure it? how long can I leave it air drying? 2days?

Not sure if you can re-brine or not.  Rolling in borax will help dry it out.  Just leave it in the fridge and not the freezer.  I usually do my roe in brine and it's soft(er) and borax afterwards.  Still works very well.  Key is when you cut it up to make sure you have some skeine in each piece.  That's what holds it on the hook.  Hard/soft is more geared towards if you're fishing faster water or not as the harder stuff stays together better in fast water.

and will it be ok if i air dry for 2 days?

Just air dry them til you get the consistency you like. Most recipes call for 24 hours or so drying time. I prefer a "wetter" cure.

if you think your roe's soft, check out your bike tire! LOL

I'd air dry it like you are doing then dust it in borax. When you pack it for freezing make sure that you add a bunch of extra borax to prevent freezer burn.

I don't dry my roe very much.  Rather, I keep it nice and moist and mix some borax in when it is time to use it.  The borax soaks in some of the excess juices and sticks on to the roe.  When it hits the water it leaves a nice scent trail thats irresistable to any passing fish.
