Congrats on your score....Yeah, you guys made a little money on this one....but this was a marketing ploy on behalf of BCLC. It was way cheaper to do it this way than to put-out a full scale ad campaign touting the on-line gambling. To get this "free money" as you call it...all you had to do is sign-up and give the Lottery Corp your name, address, etc etc. Now they have you and everyone else on file and they will send you all kinds of info on future gaming and all they need is to set the hook into a few patrons to make their money back. ( pardon the pun)
I realize that a few will never go back and spend any money but there will be more than a few who will venture back in the hopes of making even more money.
Don't get me wrong, I am not against gambling, I partake at the casino the odd time and have fun doing it...it's just that the BCLC knows about the dollars that are being spent by BCer's online and they know that this money is leaving the province and this is an attempt at clawing some of that revenue back into BC. Which can't be a bad thing if the money is going to be spent anyway.

--I think they should scrap personal income tax.. just make it a loto with a mandatory payment... the more tax you pay the bigger chance you have to win the lotto...
--Then no one would cheat as they would want to pay as much tax as possible to get the best chance of winning. Some would probably demand to pay more tax than they owed. People with tax exemptions would be crying foul, demanding to pay full tax.
--Now that I think of it, why not make corporate taxes eligible for a loto return... they'd be hiring tax lawyers to make sure they paid the max as well, demanding an end to subsidies so they could pay their full share thus have a better chance at the loto.

--Don't lay off the government tax collectors... they would have to ensure and demand that people only pay their fair share thus returning those that tried to cheat the loto by paying more tax than required.
