Capilano River, October 14th 2012
« on: October 14, 2012, 10:35:57 AM »

Headed out this morning to the Capilano. The river came up last night quite a bit but not the worst I have ever seen it. Thought this was perfect timing because the fish have been congregating at the mouth for a couple of months now and the water level was high enough for the fish to get by the weirs. About 22 rods showed up but did not see one fish caught. The odd spring showed itself but that was it. Spoke to another guy that had fished higher up but he did not catch anything. Not sure if timing the tides was important because of the flow of the river but they may have had something to do with it.
Roads are very slick and trees have fallen so drive carefully.

Saturday afternoon wasn't bad, but couldnt hook the many passers. They were on a mission for the top. Sunday, the bottom was blown, but the upper was still in very good shape considering the volume. Landed a nice spring jack, lost a couple of coho.
Monday was great for everyone but me. I spent more time tying lead after springs took off into the fast water.
Tuesday was good. Hooked 6-8. Landed a couple of spring jacks and one coloured coho.
THis morning was dead. more fisherman than fish. Managed one hit in 2 1/2 hrs.

This river is over quick. There are still some fish moving, but the easy fishing is over. Would be a lot better if we could use bait.
