went to chehalis lake last weekend. its abit of a drive on a gravelroad. about 30 km  to the campground. we trolled with gangtrolls, ford fenders and pink weddingbands and  a dewworm at the end. since  i dont have  a downrigger we  used a  jetdiver, which brought  our bait down to  about 40 feet. worked really well. we caught 2 nice bulltrouts, about 3 pounds each and  1 smaller dolly. beautiful lake and scenery. has anybody done any fishing  at stave lake lately ? have never been there, but its supposed to be easy acess. have heard about 12 pound bulltrouts and big dolly vardens. would  my setup from chehalis lake work at stave or should i try  bigger apex ? any advice would be apreciated. thanks.

So does this mean the washed out bridge to get to chehalis lake is fixed? As far as the stave goes, try fishing around the pumphouse. Troll at different depths using the same thing. I find that I catch a lot of smaller rainbows in the top 15' and larger fish deeper. Dont be afraid to troll big spoons.  I've even trolled anchovies behind a flasher like I do in the ocean and I've hit some big dollies.

Anchovies are illegal in lakes, in BC anyway.

all the bridges  right up to the  campground at the middle of the lake are fine. its just  a long 30 km  gravelroad to get in there. ja, i heard too  for the stave  some guys trolling 4 inch apex troutkiller or flatfish  to hit  large dollys  deep down.

I've never used them myself but I dont see why they wouldn't work. I've always used 3.5 - 4" spoons or anchovies sometimes behind a flasher and sometimes without. Always fished along the pumphouse. That's great to hear that all the bridges are fine.  did you go in from the road that takes you to the chehalis river and then you take a left at the stop sign or did you go all the way around and come back towards the campground?

just went down morris valley road and then like u said went left at the stop sign. i was amazed  to see all those clearcuttings. what a shame to see all those trees gone.
