My name is Todd Stockner.
I live in the Kispiox Valley in Steelhead Paradise. Moved here with my family in 1994 and will stay forever. I can put my waders on right on my front porch and walk down to the river to fish for the largest steelhead in the world. Why would I leave?
I am a guide, as well as just an angler.
Fish with a fly.

But my main focus right now is the conservation battles that all anglers now need to be involved in. Here in the Skeena watershed we are facing enormous pressure from development, none so bad as Royal Dutch Shell's proposed coalbed methane field in the headwaters of the Skeena, Nass, and Stikine watersheds. This one has to be stopped, failure is not an option.

But no matter where you are are, there are very serious threats to our angling legacy all over B.C. and it is high time that all anglers come to see that no one, no government agency, ministry, or politician is going to look after our resource. The Campbell government answers only to corporate interests who's projects (gas, oil, mineral, run-of-river hydro, open net pen salmon farming . . .  ) can only further degrade our precious wild salmon, steelhead and trout resources. Only we can make the difference, only you can make the change you want to see to protect our fisheries resources. Get involved.

So, enough from me for now. I look forward to engaging in conversation around these issues.

"Call me Ishmael, ...almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me."
Moby Dick, Herman Melville.

I can't catch a damn thing!
I'm limited in my technique and ability, but apparently not in my lure buying ability.

No boat, spin-casting from shore (light & medium gear), Richmond to Squamish to, say, Mission?

I caught a fingerling at Cat Lake, but it fit in my hand, so I released it as quickly as I could before someone saw my trophy trout...
I've tried Rice Lake a couple of times, too...once, guys across from me caught 3...the other time, nobody caught anything.

I had a strike from a pink last year, near London Farm.
It happened in such shallow water that I saw the fish hit and reject. Retrieving the lure, 2' off the rocky shore and in about 8" of water.
Closest I've come to catching a salmon...but I'm self taught.

Any advice or helpful hints would be appreciated... but a fish caught, would only be a bonus.
It's the fishing that I like.

Thanx

New guy to this site. Want to learn more about catching salmon and steelhead on the local rivers and hopefully put up some useful reports in time.
