Campbell centrepin reels
« on: November 05, 2012, 10:35:22 PM »

So I was perusing the items at the tackle swap and I came across a table where a gentleman was selling centrepin reels he makes himself. I believe his name was Don Campbell. Just wondering if anyone has experience using these reels, in particular the bushing versions of the reels. Any info is appreciated, looked pretty nice and Mr. Campbell really seemed to enjoy making them. Will Prolly buy one but was curious If anyone has used them. Thanks all!

I have one.  :D It seems fine to me. I used it about a dozen or so times. Seems to be working well. I hear good things about Don. I bought mine at a local shop not through him. I've heard he'll make custom colours and back his product if you have any issues. No issues for me so far. Mine is a 4.5" bushing. Hope this helps.

cheers  ;D

I bought one in the FVSS Swap Meet. I bought it in the auction.

A solid looking reel. I am looking forward to using it. Spins great.

LOL!!  Don is a super guy and the reels are very underpriced.  I spun a few of his at the FVSS swap meet; better than the Super (just a lttle bit as I want to eventually sell this silex ;D) I purchased there ...
Great reels and all handmade.  He is 77 but looks like he will be around for a while ;)

Great guys, thanks. Yeah, when I was taking a look at the reels and spinning them they just seemed to good to be true, but they are in fact the real deal. I think I will order up my moss green 4.5" reel tomorrow.  :P
