Lower Fraser Sept. 19
« on: September 19, 2005, 11:30:53 AM »

Just came home from a morning's fishing. Chilly in the morning, make sure you wear your sweater. Not too many fish showing. After casting for approximately an hour I had a fish followed my spoon right to shore and then turned away. I thought it was a pike minnow.  :( Several minutes later, practically on every cast I had a fish, sometimes several fish followed my lure right to the beach. It was frustrating to see this happening and them turning away at the last moment.  :'( Finally a pink committed suicide by taking the spoon in less than 2' of water. It was awesome to actually see the fish take your offering !!!  :)

It was also awesome to see a large sturgeon jumped in mid river.

Must have been at a better spot this morning than I Fish Assassin.  Fished the Main Arm at 645 am and had great high water but nothing was showing at all.  Two gentlemen arrived shortly after me and got 3 between them quickly, and that was it.  I thought it would have been on at that point, but I would have had better luck fishing in my goldfish tank.  Seriously!  Got some fat goldfish  ;D.  Needless to say, I moved at 1030 up to Brownsville Bar and had much better success.  Landed 1 slightly coloured doe and lost a bunch of other chromers.  Not much had happened before I got there, but there were a number of fish hooked while I was there.  Fishery officer came to check licenses as well and we had a great chat.   He was giving me some tips as well and was just leaving when I hooked into a beauty.  Lost it though, but he was almost as excited as I was.  Good to see that some of them also enjoy the passion in addition to enforcing it.

Cheers.

So, fishersak just phoned to provide an instant fishing report, saying Perch has just landed a 10lb female chinook salmon. ::)

No pinks sighted yet, anytime now. :)

Had a bit of luck on the north arm today, landed one nice buck and lost another around 5:30.  There were lots of fish surfacing on the low tide but they didnt want to bite.

Fished the N Arm between 5:15 & 6:15pm. Saw 3 hooked. 2 landed. One was on my rod!  ;D

Finally, the river seems to be improving after that commercial opening.

Went out this morning for about an hr, just above Patullo Bridge.  Only saw one riser and two fish hooked one landed.  Just as the tide was hitting high slack.  Didn't wet a line though.  Maybe I should have waited a little longer.  To me, it seems to be a bit slow, mind you I haven't made it out for pinks that much in the last week or so.

Well ...Rod, it wasnt a doe, hehe, Fishersak thought it was.  I assumed it was too, it was quite fat and i couldnt tell as u know i never caught spring in the fraser before, so i wouldnt know if it was a male of female.  I was left alone in this spot right after scruffy left with his brother in law.  I lost my net 3 days ago, so i landed this fish with both my feet in the water, one arm holding my fishing rod, and one hand try to grab the tail.  But it didnt seems to work grabbing the tail, so has to grab it by the gill after 15 min of good fight.  :P
