The
62nd Annual Boxing Day Steelhead Derby in Chilliwack was delayed
to New Year Day due to heavy rainfall which lead to poor river conditions.
This certainly did not dampen the spirit of diehard steelhead anglers,
306 participants took part in this year's derby. In total, 13 fish
were weighed in by the end of the derby, 3 fish more than last year's
competition. Bruce Bishop was the derby winner with the King Fish
of 13.36lbs.

Website contributor Chris Gadsden was a volunteer at the derby
as well as a participant. Although his 10 pounds 2 ounces catch
did not land him at top places, he was one of the few lucky ones
who had a chance to fight this magnificant sportfishing species
on the day. You can read his derby report on this
page.
