Wally Hall Memorial Fish Derby Gives Back

The winners of the sixth annual Wally Hall Memorial Fish Derby received their awards today. Due to the record number of entries, this derby showed a profit and those profits were turned over to two organizations dedicated to improving the overall condition of the Chilliwack/Vedder River system. Lew Chater representing the Chilliwack/Vedder River Cleanup Coalition (CVRCC) and Gwyn Joiner representing the Chilliwack River Action Committee (CRAC) each received a cheque in the amount of $250 from derby organizers to go toward their organization's river enhancement activities.
Matt Pace, a Chilliwack resident saw his 18.326 pound steelhead caught on February 1 best the other 397 steelhead fishers who entered the derby.
