In conjunction with the BC's Family Fishing Weekend, the Seymour Salmonid Society is once again hosting its annual family fishing day at Rice Lake. This year's event is on Sunday June 21st, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Rice Lake is located in the Seymour Conservative Reserve, North Vancouver. Stocked by the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery, it offers good rainbow trout fishing in spring and fall. The floating dock is a fantastic fishing facility for the entire family.
During the event, young visitors will have the opportunity to try some fishing. Fishing rods, reels, bait and other tackle will be provided for those who do not have them.
Trout release will be available for visitors in the first two hours of the event. Other fun activities include fly tying lessons, games, prize draws. There will be a wild salmon BBQ on site and stay informed by visiting all the stewardship groups. This year, stewardship groups that will be exhibiting include OWL, BC Hydro, Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and of course, Seymour Salmonid Society.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Seymour Salmonid Society. The Seymour Salmonid Society is a not-for-profit organization that operates a salmon hatchery on the Seymour River. The hatchery enhances populations of coho, chum, pink salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout. It is also involved in a variety of educational and conservation projects in the Seymour River watershed. Volunteering opportunities are available year-round.
