World Rivers Day is on Sunday September 27th. Founded by Mark Angelo in British Columbia, this annual celebration of our precious freshwater resource has grown to world wide! On September 27th, community events will take place across BC, Canada and many other countries.
Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition will once again be hosting its World Rivers Day celebration at the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club on September 27th. The event includes river cleanup, BBQ and entertainment.
Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition was established in 2002 by a group of concerned users and residents of the Chilliwack River due to the rapid growth of its littering problem. Each year, the organization hosts several river cleanup. In the last several years, an Adopt-a-River program has also been set up.
On September 27th, participants will take part in cleaning up the Chilliwack River from 9:00am to Noon. This is followed by a free BBQ and entertainment. The event venue is the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club (48685 Chilliwack Lake Road). It is approximately 7km upstream from the Vedder Crossing Bridge, across the road from the Pointa Vista Restaurant.
You are welcome to participate at this celebration! No pre-registration is required, simply show up on event day for registration. Garbage bags, rubber gloves and pickup tools will be provided.
