The Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition has finalized and announced this year's Chilliwack River clean-up dates. Since 2002, CVRCC has hosted 27 Chilliwack River clean-ups. This year, it will once again be hosting three clean-ups, including September's Rivers Day celebration. The dates are:
- April 17th, registration at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
- July 24th, registration at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
- September 26th - BC Rivers Day, registration at the Chilliwack Fish & Game Club
The Chilliwack River is the most heavily used watershed by recreational users in British Columbia. Beside angling, visitors can enjoy kayaking, whitewater rafting, camping, birdwatching on the Chilliwack River. Unfortunately, such heavy usage often results in abuse of the environment by those who choose to litter instead of packing out their garbage. These river clean-ups do not only ensure that irresponsibly disposed litters are picked up, but also bring public awareness to this issue.
More information of each clean-up will be announced when the event approaches.
