Coquitlam River Cleanup
Posted on January 22nd 2012, by Rodney Hsu, webmaster
On Sunday February 5th, Riverside Fly and Tackle will be hosting its annual Coquitlam River Cleanup. The cleanup will take place from 10:00am to 2:00pm. It is an opportunity for anglers in the Lower Mainland to lend a hand at keeping our local rivers free of garbage.
This annual event has taken place in the past nine years with the support of both City of Port Coquitlam and City of Coquitlam. Volunteers have removed a tremendous amount of garbage, from discarded dog waste in bags that have been tossed into the river to mattresses and shopping carts.
At 10:00am, volunteers will be meeting at Riverside Fly and Tackle. Please bring a pair of gloves and dress appropriate as the weather can be unpredictable during this time of the year. The store will provide garbage bags and gloves if you do not have any.
Below is a video of the cleanup from 2004.
