All About Fishing Family Event at Cultus Lake
The Fraser Valley Salmon Society will once again be hostings its annual All about Fishing Family Event at Cultus Lake in conjunction with the BC Family Fishing Weekend on Saturday, June 16th. During this day, there will be a northern pikeminnow derby with many fantastic prizes for winners and hidden weights. In addition, fun and educational entertainment will be happening on the beach throughout the day. Tickets for the derby are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for Children. All ticket holders are eligible for raffled prizes which are donated from businesses and private individuals or in the case of smaller items, purchased by the society. Adult prizes will be awarded to the largest pikeminnow and best of seven. Junior prizes will be awarded to the largest three pikeminnow and best of seven. In addition, two special prizes will be awarded to junior boy and girl hidden weight pikeminnows! The derby will start at daybreak. Tickets will be available at Main Beach weigh-in station from 6:00am to 10:00am. Tickets may also be purchased in advance from a number of fishing tackle shops in the Fraser Valley. The Weigh-in closes at 2:00 P.M., with the prize ceremony starting at 2:30pm, including previous mentioned raffle draws. Activities and displays on the beach will be provided by the following groups:
The Fraser Valley Salmon Society is a non-profit society that promotes and ensures the rights of all anglers in non-tidal waters. Aside from that mandate, the society hopes to educate and enlighten the youngest of our anglers into the many aspects of fishing, which includes conservation and habitat protection.
