The Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Coalition will be hosting its first 2010 cleanup on Saturday April 17th. Registration will take place at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve from 8:30am to 9:30am. Volunteers will be sent to various locations along the Chilliwack River, from the Highway One Bridge to the hatchery. The event will end at 12:30pm.
As usual, Tim Hortons will be supplying coffee, donuts and juice for volunteers. Garbage bags will also be provided. Limited number of gloves and pick-up tools will be available, but please bring your own if possible.
The Chilliwack River cleanup is a combined volunteer effort of local residents and recreational users such as anglers. It aims to keep this fantastic watershed clean for future users. Your help at this cleanup is important because freshet will take place soon. Any garbage left on the river banks will be washed away into the Pacific Ocean.
Steelhead fishing is reported to be fantastic right now so be sure to bring a fishing rod if you are attending this event!
