The Seymour Salmonid Society is looking for volunteers to take part in fertilizer placements in the Seymour River on June 22nd. The duration of this project will be between 3 to 4 hours. It will involve some lifting and carrying, but the bags are not overly heavy. Waders are available at the hatchery but you are welcome to bring your own if you have them.
Fertilizer placement in rivers is a technique used to enhance salmonid habitat by increasing the available nutrient in the watershed. These projects are ongoing effort to save various Southern Georgia basin steelhead populations, including the Seymour River.
If you are interested in participating, please contact volunteer Coordinator, Ed Walls, by phoning 604-288-0511 or email volunteer@seymoursalmon.com.
