The Seymour Salmon Hatchery will be doing juvenile coho salmon adipose fin clipping on July 31st and August 1st. Both sessions will start at 9:30-10:00am to around 2:30pm. If you are interested to take part in this volunteer activity, please contact Ed Walls by email or phone 604-288-0511. Please be sure that you bring a pair of gum boots because you will most likely be standing in or around water.
The Seymour Salmon Hatchery is located in North Vancouver, just downstream from the Seymour Dam. It raises coho salmon, chum salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout. In Southern BC, all coho salmon that are raised at hatcheries are marked by the clipping of adipose fin so they can be distinguished from wild coho salmon.
